Decatur Man Pleads Guilty to Shooting Eagle

NESHOBA, Miss. (WCBI)-A Decatur man has pleaded guilty to the shooting of a protected bald eagle in 2012. 21 year-old Marcus Cochran was sentenced last Wednesday. A bald eagle was discovered shot on the Nanih Waiya Wildlife Management area near the Coy Community in Neshoba County. It was later euthanized due to the extent of it’s injuries. Prosecutors say Cochran shot the bald eagle while duck hunting December 2nd. Cochran was fined $2,500 and placed on probation for a period of two years and prohibited from any hunting during that time and has to forfeit the firearm used in the incident.
