UNDATED (WCBI) –  Tourism across the region slipped slightly in December.

New state Department of Revenue numbers show special local taxes collected on restaurant meals and hotels declined in December compared to a year earlier in several Northeast Mississippi towns.

Aberdeen, Columbus, Starkville, West Point and Pontotoc also saw revenues designed to support tourism promotions. New Albany, Tupelo, Corinth, and Ripley saw increases.

Taxes range from 1 to 2 percent on hotel nights or meals.
