Delay Sought in Child Enticement Trial

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — A man convicted of using the Internet to entice a 15-year-old girl for sexual activity has asked a judge to find him innocent or give him a new trial.

Garry Waddle was convicted in U.S. District Court in Oxford on Feb. 25. He is awaiting sentencing.

Authorities say Waddle was arrested in Tupelo in 2013 after he arrived to meet a 15-year-old for sex. His arrest was part of an undercover Internet sex crime sting.

In a motion filed this week, Waddle argues the subject of sex and meeting was broached before any mention of age, that the photo of the girl officers posed as seemed to indicate the user was between 17 and 21 years old and that there was never actually a minor involved.
