WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s cutting edge technology at your finger tips.

Add West Point to the number of police departments with a Cross Match Live Finger Print Scanner.

What once required ink and a roller can now be accomplished with a few mouse clicks.

There is no smudging, and the computer takes the place of a fingerprint technician.

Columbus has a similar system in place, and that make cooperation between the two police departments more efficient.

West Point Chief Tim Brinkley says, “It’s all done electronically, eliminates the need for the old ink and roller type machines to capture finger print images. It eliminates the amount of bad prints that you take.”

The new system went on line in West Point just last week.
