MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Six counties in west Alabama are approaching the deadline to apply for disaster loans due to severe weather and flooding that occurred April 28 through May 3.

The Small Business Administration says small businesses and most non-profit organizations in Choctaw, Franklin, Lamar, Marion, Pickens and Washington counties have until Jan. 30 to apply for disaster loans.

The SBA says loans of up to $2 million are available at about 2.6 percent interest for private non-profit groups and 4 percent for small businesses.

The disaster loan declaration also covers a large part of Mississippi and three parishes in Louisiana.
