Video: Early Morning Incident Lands One Starkville Man in Jail

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — A call to police at about 3:30 a.m. this morning in regards to a possibly mentally ill man has resulted in one arrest.

Police responded to 271 Reed Rd. in Starkville per the initial report. According to a press release provided by the Starkville Police Department, upon arrival, officers were told the man, Chadwick Lee Eaves, had a gun. Further information on what type of weapon was unavailable at the time of this post.

Per the release, officers “identified themselves before attempting to enter the dwelling to locate Eaves.” The release goes on to say shots were fired “in the immediate location of the officers” before they entered the residence. Both proceeded to arrest Eaves after he ran out of ammo.

It is unknown at this time who the homeowner was, or if officers possessed a search warrant to enter the residence.

No injuries were reported.

Eaves was arrested without further conflict. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer at $50,000 per count, totaling a $100,000 bond.

Eaves is currently being detained at the Oktibbeha County Jail.
