UPDATE: South Lehmberg Still Blocked

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Crews are waiting for equipment to arrive this morning to get 30 train cars back on the tracks and open a busy East Columbus roadway.

South Lehmberg was blocked when the cars skipped the track about 1:30 a.m. The cars were among 106 in the eastbound train on the Alabama Southern rail line.

A four-foot section of broken track was blamed for the derailment.

Crews are attempting to clean- up a big mess caused by a train derailment early this morning.

Traffic remains diverted at South Lehmberg and Yorkville and South Lehmberg and Highway 182 except for people who live and work on the street.
