Ecru Special Election

ECRU, Miss. (WCBI) – A resignation in Ecru leaves an alderman at-large seat up for grabbs.

Four people have qualified for the special election August 27th for the lone Board of Alderman seat in Ecru. Patrick Coker, Bill Nance, Berlon Quillian and Whitney Smith all made the qualifying deadline of August 7th.

The seat was left open after former Alderman Jimmy Whitehead resigned his seat last month, citing his wife’s health. After wanting to rescind his resignation, state law stated it was too late.

Whitehead was one of nine people who ran for one of the city’s five at-large alderman seats in the city’s May Democratic primary.
