LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Eight people face possible drug and burglary charges after a raid at a Lowndes County home.

Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge says a tip led detectives and drug agents to search a home at the corner of New Hope and Pinewood roads shortly before 2 Monday afternoon. Eight people were at the home, including one who was leaving what appeared to be a small meth lab in a shed behind the residence.

Agents searched the shed and trash cans outside the home for meth-related materials and used special gear to test and package the confiscated items.

They also hauled out guns, televisions, stereos and music equipment they suspect were stolen in area burglaries in the last six weeks.

One of those was a month ago at Border Springs Baptist Church near Caledonia.

Arledge says it’s not clear yet if all eight people at the home were involved in criminal activity or what charges will be filed.

It’s the second major burglary raid in the last four days. Last week, Lowndes detectives arrested two people they say were involved in at least nine burglaries in Lowndes County and two in Lamar County, Ala., in the last two months.
