OXFORD, Miss. – (WCBI) The election night protest that led to the arrest of two Ole Miss students and national backlash is under review.

Officials with the Department of Student Affairs at the University of Mississippi announced Friday that a committee has been named to investigate the election night squabble.

The judiciary committee has identified some of the 400 students involved, and will determine punishment based off the student code of conduct.

The large gathering on Ole Miss’s campus took a turn after the announcement that President Barack Obama was re-elected. Reports show that signs were burned and racial epithets yelled, before officers intervened.

The committee will submit a final report of the night’s events to the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs by the end of this semester.
