MAYHEW, Miss. (WCBI) — It may be spring, but East Mississippi Community College is already preparing some of its future students for the fall.

On Friday, EMCC hosted its Journey East orientation for parents and honors students who got at least a 21 on their ACT assessment test.

The high school seniors got to sign up for fall classes, and tour the campus.

They’re the first to register.

“EMCC is growing so quickly, that our classes fill up really quick,” said Michael Black, EMCC recruiting coordinator. “We have small classes, and so the perk is that they get their classes before anyone else. They never hear the dreaded words, ‘I’m sorry, that class is full.'”

Registration for all incoming freshmen begins April 7.

EMCC has about 200 to 300 new honors students each year.
