EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI)- Eupora’s swearing in ceremony took place early Monday afternoon.

That didn’t stop the town’s new mayor and city council from getting started right away.

Officials held their first board of alderman meeting with the new administration Monday night.

Leaders had a ton of items to discuss on their agenda.

Eupora’s new mayor, Dan Burchfield, says after spending 16 years on the board he’s very excited to take on this new role and envisions great things for his town.

“I know that I have a board that’s sitting here that is just as concerned as I am on trying to do the things that we feel are necessary to bring Eupora back to where we can look at the jobs that we’ve lost in the last decade. We can look at the progress that perhaps has been slowed because of that job loss and we can bring things back to where we think Eupora needs to be in order to get ready to go into the 21st century,” said Burchfield.

Burchfield says the board has a long road ahead of them. They want to focus on improving job creation and development. They also want to focus on replacing old water lines and repaving city streets.
