Columbus Public Library to Host African-American Film Series and Speaker

Columbus, Miss –In recognition of Black History Month, the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library will be hosting four movies featuring an African-American in the leading role.

The movie schedule is as follows:

  • February 6th – The Express,
  • February 13th – The Princess and the Frog,
  • February 20th – The Pursuit of Happyness, and
  • February 27th – Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

All movies begin at 4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

On February 25th, the library will host Alferdteen Harrison, Director of the Margaret Walker Alexander Research Center at Jackson State University. Mrs. Harrison’s program, “Let’s Talk about Preserving African American Historic Sites” will discuss many historic African American sites that exist as well as explaining what comprises a historic site and what can be done to preserve them for future studies while at the same time making them available to the public.
