COPES Program to Host Barbeque Dinner
Date(s) - 10/27/2012
4:00 pm-6:00 pm
HOUSTON – The COPES program (Correcting our Pasts and Establishing Skills) will host a barbeque dinner Oct. 27 as a fundraiser to assist at-risk children and youth.
COPES helps children with services that aid in education and also places youth in educational and training programs like National Guard ChalleNGe and Job Corps along with obtaining GED certificates and high school diplomas.
Director Donna Schomburg is enlisting the assistance of those most affected by the program to help raise funds to help children and youth.
Although the program is assisted financially by the Houston Exchange club and grants from the United Way and other agencies, expenses are still incurred to send youth for GED classes or testing or to provide clothing, personal hygiene items and transportation to youth programs like ChalleNGe or Job Corps.
Barbeque plates will be available from 4-6 p.m. at Madi Bell Farms in Houston for $10 each. Tickets are available from Exchange club members now.
