The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District (USACE) will hold the 10th annual Enid Lake clean-up day on 23 February 2013. Volunteers interested in participating in this event can meet at the Enid Lake Field Office, the Chickasaw Hill boat ramp or Dunn’s Country Store at 7:00 a.m.

Clean-up efforts will be focused on Enid Lake’s main access roads, recreation areas, and shorelines. Trash that is collected will be dropped off at designated sites. Volunteers planning to work along the shoreline may bring their all-terrain or utility vehicles and appropriate clothing. Lunch will be provided.

Enid Lake personnel and the Enid Lake Volunteers for Waste Management formed a partnership to help clean Enid Lake’s shoreline and roadways to enhance visitor’s enjoyment.

To date, the volunteers have been directly responsible for picking up over 718 compacted cubic yards of trash and debris and the removal of 636 tires from the shoreline and roadways. The event has also been directly responsible for volunteer services valued at over $204,895.00.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers public lands offer an array of safe recreational opportunities that include fishing, boating, camping, hiking, bicycling, swimming, and photography. The four Corps lakes in Mississippi draw approximately 5.5 million visitors per year, support approximately 1,500 jobs and contribute more than $130 million to regional tourism.
