MLK Celebration in West Point on Jan 21st

This bulletin is to inform the surrounding communities that the West Point annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration will be held on January 21, 2013. This year the celebration will coincide with the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States of America. The theme for this year’s celebration, according to Spokesperson Anna Hayford-Jones, is “Continuing the Legacy”.

On Monday, January 21, 2013 assembly of marchers will be at the end of Martin Luther King Drive and East Half Mile Street, in West Point, Miss. The procession will commence at 9:00 a.m. down Martin Luther King Jr, Drive, go through Main Street and end at Center Stage Auditorium, Central School on Westbrook Street, West Point.

The program will commence at the Sage Gymnasium at 9:45 a.m. This year’s featured speaker will be Rev. Clementine Mays of Popular Springs CME Church of Shannon, Miss. There will also be a host of children’s groups performing.

All individuals, communities, including churches, organizations and clubs are encouraged to bring banners to show their representation at the march.

In the event of bad weather there will be a motorcade followed by the program as scheduled at the Center Stage Auditorium.
