Martin Luther King Day of Service Event Pre-Registration

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’”

Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.

With that spirit in mind, the United Way Community Volunteer Center and DREAM 365 will be hosting the 3rd Annual MLK Day of Service Community Volunteer Event on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 from 8am until 1pm.

Volunteers will be engaged in community service projects throughout the city , ranging from beautification efforts for the city to service projects for local non-profits. The entire community is invited to join this effort. Pre-registration is currently underway online by going to volunteer.truist.com/uwolc-7/volunteer and looking under EVENTS. By choosing the Learn More option, potential volunteers may see a listing of each project, its description, age requirements and can then register for the project that interests them or their group.

The volunteer event will start with a kickoff breakfast sponsored by Hardees Hwy 45 and East Columbus, McDonalds Hwy 45, and Bojangles. The breakfast will begin at 8 am at the Trotter Convention Center Lower Level, 402 2nd Avenue North. The breakfast is open to pre-registered volunteers only. Following the breakfast, volunteers will then go to the location of their pre-registered project that will be complete by 1pm.
