My name is Brett Harris and I am the co-director of Late Night Events for the Student Association at MSU. I am in charge of a 5k run and 1 mile fun run called “On Your Mark, Get Set, GLOW!.”

The event is taking place on February 7th on the campus of MSU and all proceeds will go to the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson. The theme of the event will be “Remembering for a BRIGHTER tomorrow.” The races will take place after dark and will include glow sticks for runners, and fun obstacles, as well as local DJs along the route and at the finish line. We are excited to be hosting this event and we look forward to giving our community a chance to support Blair E. Batson and local Batson patient Emma Welch. Emma is a 2 year old patient of Blair E. Batson from West Point. Her father, Casey Welch, is a football coach at West Point High School and a former football player at MSU. The Welch family will represent Blair E. Batson at the event. The Student Association and other various community sponsors are supporting this event and 100% of proceeds will be going to support Mississippi’s Children’s Hospital. I can’t express just how thrilled we are to be putting on such a fun and beneficial event and we would love to be feature as one of your news segments. A feature on your program will be a chance for more people from our area to take part. Please let me know if this is possible in any form or fashion. Any support is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.
