Louisville City Hall
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Since 1987, Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) has been observed across the United States in the month of October. Traditionally, DVAM is a time to raise awareness about domestic violence issues, and the services that are available to victims.
This year, the City of Louisville, Winston County, Care Lodger, District Attorney’s office and Louisville Municipal Court is proud to announce partnership to host a Public Awareness Event “Peace for Families”.
This special event will take place on October 29, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m at the Louisville City Hall.
The event will focus on ways to help identify domestic violence and help in ending the abuse while supporting the victims of those actions.
Every year, the Louisville Police Department and Winston County Sheriff’s Department respond to a large number of Domestic Disturbances. These incidents can be simple family disputes to very serious reports of Domestic Violence. In the first ten months of 2012 the Louisville Police Department responded to 102 reports of Domestic Violence. The event will also help promote Care Lodge the only certified domestic violence shelter located in MS Patrol District VI which receives persons from Winston County.
For more information please contact Care Lodge at (601) 693-4673 or the Louisville City Hall.
All citizens are encouraged to attend the event and support ending domestic violence today.
