Not in real life but in thoughts when Placido Domingo Jr. entertains in his first concert in the deep south, Tupelo, Mississippi, known as the birth place of Elvis, no last name needed. The concert is scheduled for Sept. 21 at Tupelo’s Link Centre.

Placido, as he is known professionally, is one of the three sons of the famed opera singer by the same name who is said to be the greatest tenor the opera world has ever known. The two often sing together as they do on CDs and recently at a concert in Los Angeles for the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

The tenor/baritone is a singer, song writer, composer, record producer, recording artist as well as teaching song writers the art of writing music for lyricists. His opera debut came when, as a pre-teen, he and his father sang respective parts of the Puccini opera Tosca. He has written songs for many recording artists, including his father and The Three Tenors. One album for which he is well known is Amore Infinito with songs inspired by the verses of the late Pope John Paul II. His latest album is Great Voices Sing John Denver on which he and his father sing the John Denver song “Perhaps Love.”

The concert in Tupelo will follow one in Riga, Latvia and following the Tupelo concert Placido will begin a tour of concerts in the metro cities of South America.
