Columbus, MS, September 17, 2013 – The Starkville/MSU Symphony Association, Mississippi University for Women and the Columbus Arts Council will sponsor an evening concert by the Starkville/MSU Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Rent Auditorium, 1100 College Street, on the Mississippi University for Women campus in Columbus, Mississippi.

Dr. Julia Mortykova, Chair of the MUW Music Department, will be the featured artist performer, joining the orchestra for the Concertstuke for Piano and Orchestra by Richard Schumann. The performance also includes a premiere of MUW music professor Dr. Richard Montalto’s original composition, “Possum Town Prelude”, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C Major. The Starkville-MSU Symphony is under the direction of Dr. Michael Brown, Head of the Department of Music at Mississippi State University.

Tickets for the concert are $10, with MUW and MSU faculty, staff and students receiving free admission with valid University ID. Tickets are available at the Columbus Arts Council/Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main Street, in Downtown Columbus, MS, and will also be available at the door the night of performance.
