The Chickasaw County 4-H Shooting Sports is looking for kids who can hit the target.
The local 4-H chapter will host an information meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Chicksaw County Extension Service office on Lee Horn Street.
“We had a record number of kids show up to compete last year and we are trying to gauge the amount of interest out there,” said Scott Cagle, Chickasaw County Extension Service Director. “This program was very big around here at one time and we are trying to build it back.”
Chicksaw County 4-H Shooting Sports is open to kids ages 8 to 18, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all shooting events.
The local 4-H chapter offered .22-cal. rifle, shotgun and archery classes last fall. They will also offer .22-cal. pistol, muzzle-loading, air rifle and air pistol if they can find enough interest to form a class.
