Falkner’s Ben Ashley Named New Amory Football Coach

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) —The Amory school board announced on Friday they have approved Falkner’s Ben Ashley to become the Panthers’ new football coach.

Ashley is replacing Trent Hammond, who left Amory to become head coach at Tupelo. He will also be the school’s Athletic Director, a position that Hammond held when he was Amory’s head football coach as well.

The former Falkner head coach has 15 years of coaching experience, including three years at Pontotoc High School, where he graduated from in 1994.

Ashley’s coaching career also includes stops at Eupora, Mississippi College, Aberdeen, Amory, and South Panola’s 2007 state title season.

The new Panther head coach played football for two years at Itawamba Community College before playing one year at Delta State and one year at Mississippi State in 1998 where he was a long-snapper for the Bulldogs.

Ashley was 18-6 in his two years at Falkner, leading the Eagles to the Class 1A Playoffs in both of his seasons as head coach.
