Trace Wreck-Death Trial Pushed to December

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – The federal trial involving the murder of two motorcyclist has been pushed to the end of the year.

On Aug. 6 of this year, Pauline Demers, 55, and Gerard Nault, 56, both of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, were struck and killed by a motor vehicle while riding their motorcycles near mile marker 289 on the Natchez Trace Parkway in Prentiss County.

Donnie William Sartain, 50, of Tishomingo, was slated to go on trial on Oct. 20 for DUI-manslaughter. A continuance was requested by U.S. District Judge Michael Mills after a settlement discussion was initiated.

Records show Sartain was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
