Video: Film Pioneer Honored in Columbus

[bitsontherun KNa7TkyQ]COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) The pioneer in film animation is now part of the history of Columbus. A marker at 823 6th Avenue N. highlights Meador’s childhood home. It was unveiled Monday at the official kick off of the Columbus Pilgrimage.

Meador won an Academy Award as a member of the Walt Disney creative team. He created the effects for “Fantasia” and “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea/”

“We’re thrilled to be inaugurating the Josh Meador’s Trail and delivering to Columbus the beautiful marker, this historic marker depicting the first home of Josh Meador,” says Columbus CVB DIRECTOR Nancy Carpenter.

Chris and Kim Castleberry now own the Meador’s home.
