Fleeing Felony Arrest

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lowndes County man turns a little problem into a heap of trouble. Lowndes sheriff’s investigators say, 27 year old Martell Taylor of Steens took off from a traffic checkpoint Saturday night at the intersection of Military and Wolfe Roads. Deputies say, Taylor was uncooperative with officers and they drew their weapons when they realized he had a gun in the glove box of his Izuzu Rodeo. He took off, almost running over Sergeant Ivan Bryan and leading deputies on a 15-minute chase along Military, Ridge and nearby roads before spike sticks knocked out three of his tires on Military Road.

Instead of just a misdemeanor marijuana charge, Taylor now faces felony fleeing, aggravated assault on an officer and a host of other charges.
