JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi Supreme Court has rejected the latest appeal of the man convicted of the 1996 slayings of four people inside a Winona furniture store.

Curtis Flowers was sentenced to death on four counts of capital murder in June 2010. Those convictions actually marked the sixth time Flowers had been tried in the case. The prior ones were either declared mistrials or the verdicts overturned. Thursday’s ruling does not mean an execution date will be set any time soon.

Flowers can now appeal his conviction to the federal level or file a post conviction appeal with the Mississippi Supreme Court to bring up issues not known prior to his other appeals.
