Video: Flowers Loses Appeal in 1996 Winona Store Slayings

JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Supreme Court has rejected arguments that prosecutors’ errors caused a jury to convict Curtis Giovanni Flowers a fourth time in the slayings of four workers at a Winona furniture store.

The state high court on Thursday upheld Flowers’ convictions and death sentences.

In six trials, Flowers has been convicted four times for the 1996 slayings.

In a 6-3 decision, the court’s majority denied his arguments that prosecutors made misstatements to the Montgomery County jury about witness identification, Flowers’ actions on the day of the slayings and other evidence.

Flowers is now 44. He was convicted of capital murder for the fatal shootings of Tardy Furniture store owner Bertha Tardy and employees Carmen Rigby, Robert Golden and Derrick “BoBo” Stewart.
