Fmr. Saltillo Police Chief Files Civil Suit Claiming Wrongful Termination

SALTILLO, Miss. (WCBI) — A former Saltillo police chief says he was wrongly terminated from his job, and he’s fighting back.

Former Saltillo Police Chief Prentice Brown filed a civil suit in the U.S. District Court this week, demanding a jury trial and seeking damages.

The city and former Mayor Bill Williams were named defendants.

According to Brown’s complaint, he worked for the Saltillo Police Department (SPD) for ten years, and was fired for supporting an opposing candidate for mayor over Bill Williams. Brown also claims the SPD says they suspended him for allegedly intimidating a wife of an officer over the mayoral election.

Brown was terminated July 2013.
