Four Arrested in West Point Raid

West Point, MS, Friday, July 22, 2013: (PRESS RELEASE) A Friday afternoon raid netted four arrests. Police officers conducted a sweep of the Town Creek Apartment complex after receiving information about the whereabouts of at least two suspects wanted in connection with several violent crimes in the community.

Arrested in the sweep was 29 year old Joshua Karriem in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred on July 18, 2013. He was charged with kidnapping, armed robbery and grand larceny. Bond was set at $100,000.

Also arrested was 27 year old Demetrius Parker of 312 West Half Mile Street, apt. D-3 and two juveniles in connection with a shooting that occurred on July 8th at Town Creek Apartments that left one man injured. All three were charged with aggravated assault. Bond was set at $100,000 each. Although the two juveniles have been formally charges as adults their names are not being released just yet.

All are being held at the Clay County Jail. According to Chief Brinkley, “These arrests represent closure to five cases of violence that the department has been working leads on for several weeks. We’re glad to have all of our main suspects in custody and are preparing for adjudication.”
