LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Four people are injured when an early morning fire destroys their Louisville home.

Fire Chief Terry Johnson says two adults, including one in a wheelchair, and two children were at home in the 700 block of North Columbus Avenue when the fire started just before 7 this morning.

They suffered burns and smoke inhalation trying to escape the flames and save the family’s nine pets. Johnson says a dog and cat died in the fire but the other animals were rescued.

The family members were taken to Winston County Medical Center and one has been transferred to the burn center in Jackson.

The home is a total loss and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
