TODAY: Yesterday’s high of 71 degrees in Columbus sure felt nice, but we’re back to winter reality today with highs around 50°. Expect a breezy but mostly sunny day.
TONIGHT: The winds will relax and with a clear sky, temperatures are expected to bottom out between 24 and 29 degrees…averaging around 27°.
SATURDAY: The weekend should start on a sunny note, but clouds will gradually build across the region. Highs will reach the low to mid 50s with an east wind, but rain chances will hold off.
SUNDAY: The atmosphere will finally moisten sufficiently to produce fairly high rain chances. However, we will not be seeing any flooding rains. A gentle moderate rain is expected, with rain amounts averaging around one half inch to one inch in isolated spots.
MONDAY: Sharply colder air is still set to blow in from the north behind Sunday’s system. A few flurries are possible across extreme north Mississippi early Monday, but no accumulations should occur. Otherwise, expect a breezy and cold day with highs struggling into the low 40s with only upper 30s towards Tupelo.
MIDWEEK: Another disturbance may bring an additional chance for showers by Wednesday as highs remain in the 40s. For now, we don’t see any strong signals for any wintry precipitation.
