Geddie Named to CDF Post in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. — Karen Geddie has been named vice president of the Chamber of Commerce for the Community Development Foundation (CDF). CDF is the economic development organization for Tupelo/Lee County, and also houses the Chamber of Commerce. The detail-oriented, focus-driven experience that Geddie brings to the organization will assist her in promoting CDF’s mission of creating jobs, developing communities, and fostering business.

“Karen will strengthen the CDF team through her professionalism and leadership, allowing us to enhance the level of service that we provide to our over 1,200 CDF members,” said David Rumbarger, CDF president and CEO.

In her role as vice president of the Chamber of Commerce Geddie will oversee CDF’s membership recruitment and retention initiatives. She will lead the planning and implementation of the Chamber’s programs attended by over 6,000 members annually. Such events include First Friday, Business to Business Connection & Taste of Tupelo, Chamber Seminars, Tupelo Young Professionals, and Business Boxed Lunch & Learn. Prior to joining the Chamber team, Geddie served as human resources officer with Renasant Bank. In this role she recruited new employees and supported existing staff for designated divisions of the bank. She was previously employed by First United Methodist Church Tupelo as publication/office assistant, supporting the publication needs of the congregation.

Geddie received an A.A. in Music from Peace College in Raleigh, NC, and her B.S. in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University. Her professional career includes service as an internal consultant and industrial power engineer with Carolina Power & Light, now Progress Energy, in North Carolina. She also worked with McLeod Regional Medical Center, a 453-bed regional medical center in Florence, SC, to assist in the development of their in-house information technology department.

Originally from the Carolinas, Geddie has called Tupelo home for over seven years. She is married to Joe Geddie, and they have two sons and a daughter.
