AMORY – Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center’s first baby of 2014 made his arrival at 10:27 a.m. Wednesday.

Weighing 6 pounds, 2 ounces, and measuring 17 inches, Walker Douglas Tubb was born to Jason and Hillary Tubb of Tupelo. The baby was the third of the year in the region, behind New Year’s babies at North Mississippi Medical Center and OCH Regional Medical Center.

Hillary was planning on having Walker at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center mid-January, but she wasn’t planning on an early arrival. She was working the night of her son’s birth when her water broke. Hillary is an employee of Gilmore where she is a nurse in the Women’s Center.

As parents of Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center’s New Year’s Baby, Hillary and Jason received a packaged assortment of baby gifts from the hospital and area merchants. Along with such predictable items as diapers, bath items and burp cloths, the gifts included plush toys, a bouncy seat, assorted sleepers and a “Welcome to the World” picture frame.
