The Rebels’ redshirt-freshman punter from Melbourne, Australia, showed power and accuracy in the team’s 35-13 win over Boise State, which earned him national honors from a pair of organizations.

Gleeson was tabbed Ray Guy Award Player of the Week by the Augusta Sports Council and Ray Guy Award and also National Punter of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.

Gleeson, who grew up playing Australian-rules football, punted four times for 189 yards in his collegiate debut. He averaged 47.25 yards per punt, pinned three inside the 20-yard line, and had a net punting average of 47.7 yards. Gleeson’s longest punt was a 70-yard bomb that sailed over the Bronco punt returner’s head.

Ole Miss is now ranked 15th in the nation by the Associated Press. The Rebels will take the ranking into their SEC opener this Saturday at Vanderbilt. Ole Miss is one of six teams in the SEC West ranked inside the top 15 of the AP Top 25.
