Golden Triangle Urgent Team Centers Offer $20 Flu Shots

COLUMBUS, Miss. — Flu season is approaching, and health officials agree the best preventative action is to receive a vaccine as soon as it’s available. Urgent Team, one of the largest and fastest growing independent operators of urgent care centers across the Southeast, has flu vaccines in stock and is ready to protect your family against this year’s seasonal flu virus.

“The seasonal flu doesn’t have to be a hassle. Our team is in place to be the affordable and convenient solution, so you can safeguard your whole family,” said Lynn Scarbrough, Urgent Team’s Vice President of Clinical Operations. “We do want to stress the importance of early action, as the vaccine takes approximately two weeks to provide protection that will last throughout the entire flu season.”

Flu vaccination is recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older. While the peak for influenza typically hits between January and February, the season can begin as early as October and last through May. The CDC states the most effective strategy for reducing the spread of illness is getting vaccinated as soon as vaccines are available. This is especially important if you or your loved one is at high risk.

Pregnant women, children younger than five, people 50 years and older and those with certain chronic medical conditions run the highest risk developing flu-related complications. However, anyone can become sick with this contagious disease. Flu vaccines are proven to be about 60 percent effective in avoiding the flu, but also reduce complications and death in those who get the flu despite being immunized. Flu vaccines are safe and it is not possible to get the flu as a result of vaccination.

Delivery of flu vaccine has begun in our centers, with Novartis Fluvirin. This vaccine is approved for children ages 4 and older. In order to serve our younger patients, the Sanofi Fluzone™ approved for ages 6 months and older is also available. Contact your local Urgent Team Center to inquire about flu shots for children 4 and under.

“Our centers are open seven days a week with extended hours and no appointment needed,” says Scarbrough. “Let us provide you with a convenient solution, because when it comes to your family and the flu, our team is on your team.”

Flu vaccines are currently available at Urgent Team for $20. Walk-ins are accepted on a first come first served basis. Most major insurances are accepted. Stop by your Golden Triangle area Center to get your flu shot.
