Governor Scheduled to Sign Teacher Pay Raise Tuesday

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Gov. Phil Bryant is expected to sign the teacher pay raise on Tuesday morning.

The $2,500 raise was approved during the 2014 session.

In 2013 the House passed a $5,000 pay raise, but it failed to pass the Senate because the state did not have the funding.

The new legislation, set to be signed today, states that teachers will be qualified for more pay increases depending on their school’s performance.

This will go into effect in 2016.
