Video: Grant to Fund West Point Summer Work Program Approved

WEST POINT, Miss. – (WCBI) West Point gets two grants that will help clean up the city if different ways. A $35,000 state grant combined with 10 thousand in city dollars will fund a summer work program for about two dozen 16 to 24-year olds. The youths work on city projects throughout the summer. Hiring should start in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, a $400,000 federal grant will help the city do environmental tests on old buildings and properties for possible chemical contamination.

Getting the properties cleaned up will help make the properties more marketable for new development.
