Grenada Company Expanding, Adding Jobs

Grenada, Miss. (November 30, 2012) – Officials from Grenada Stamping have announced the company is expanding its operations in Grenada, Miss., to accommodate an increase in its engineering, testing and manufacturing capabilities. The project represents a $500,000 company investment and is creating 35 new jobs.

Grenada Stamping, supplier of parts to the appliance, automotive, HVAC-R and off-highway markets, has expanded three times since January 2010, adding 150 jobs. This latest expansion will bring the total number of employees at the Grenada Stamping complex to 250.

“I commend Grenada Stamping for once again expanding its operations and for creating these new job opportunities for the area’s workers,” Governor Phil Bryant said. “This latest expansion is further proof that ‘Mississippi Works’ and that Mississippi offers businesses a dedicated workforce and a supportive business climate. I appreciate Grenada Stamping’s ongoing commitment to Grenada and to the area’s workforce.”

“We are most thankful to the Mississippi Development Authority, the Grenada Economic Development District and the Grenada County Board of Supervisors for their support on this project,” said Grenada Stamping General Manager Gary Houston. “The business climate in Grenada is without parallel and we look forward to continuing to grow in the community.”

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) provided assistance through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for upgrades to the county-owned facility in which Grenada Stamping is located in order to accommodate the company’s growth. Grenada County provided assistance for infrastructure improvements, as well.

A subsidiary of Ice Industries, which is headquartered in Sylvania, Ohio, Grenada Stamping and Assembly has a broad menu of capabilities, including the ability to blank, form, weld and assemble a variety of materials of various strengths and thicknesses. In addition to being a supplier to Electrolux® in Canada, the company provides parts to Ford Motor Company in Argentina, First Solar Panels in Canada, Copeland in Northern Ireland, Belgium, Thailand and China and Toyota Boshoku in Indiana.
