GRENADA, Miss. — A Grenada man has been arrested for sexual battery of a vulnerable person, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Anthony Reece, age 40, of Grenada, was arrested Thursday by investigators with the Attorney General’s Office Medicaid Fraud Control Unit with assistance from the Panola County Sheriff’s Department. Reece is charged with one count of sexual battery of a vulnerable person.

Reece is charged with “willfully, unlawfully and feloniously engaging in sexual penetration as defined in section 97-3-97, of the Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated, with a vulnerable person, as defined in section 43-47-5, contrary to and in violation of Section 43-47-18 (1)(b) of the Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended.” The victim was a patient at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville, where the defendant worked.

Reece was booked into Panola County Jail and bond was set at $250,000.

If convicted, Reece faces a maximum of 30 years in jail and $10,000 in fines. As with all cases, the defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
