Grenada Names New Police Chief

GRENADA, Miss. (AP) – A 17-year veteran of the Mississippi Highway Patrol has been named police chief in Grenada. The hiring of Highway Patrol Sgt. Ben Williams was announced this past week. He will take over July 1.

The 52-year-old Williams is a Grenada native and worked for the sheriff’s department for eight years before joining the MHP 17 years ago. He currently serves as a public relations officer.

Interim Police Chief Russel Carver will retire on June 28.
