MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. – (WCBI)It’s taken a decade, but a plan to transform an old cotton mill plant into a facility that will benefit all of Bulldog Country is making moves.

Ground will officially be broken on the Cotton Mill project Thursday.

A host of local and state dignitaries are expected to be on hand at the ceremony, which starts at 3:30 p.m.

The $40 million project is the result of both private investments and public funding. It will offer a state of the art conference center and offices, once the Cooley Building is renovated.

Developer Mark Castleberry also has plans to build a large parking garage and an adjacent hotel.

Mississippi State University purchased the land back in 1965.
