TUPELO, Miss., (WCBI) — A 20 year old Tupelo man will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to murder charges.

Nathaniel Whitfield admitted he is the man who shot Verona Apartment complex owner Jay Suppiah to death back in November 2012.

That case went unsolved for over a year until Whitfield was arrested in February. Whitfield opted to take the guilty plea rather than face the possibility of the death penalty if the case went to trial.
