LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — After enduring the school’s first losing season in the last seven years, Winston Academy is ready to turn over a new leaf.

The Patriots will have to replace the talented Orien Dailey on offense, but both sides of the ball return talent.

Quarterback Logan Webb and the linebacker corps of Taylor and Will Moody have come back for the Patriots.

That talent returning gives the Patriots a reason to have high aspirations.

“I never go into a ball game thinking we’re going to lose, so I have high expectations for this team,” head coach Bo Milton said. “If we come out and play hard and do the best of our ability, the winning and losing will take care of itself.”

Coach Milton may have have managed the expectations, but not the returning QB for the Pats.

“I think we’ll be pretty good,” Webb said. “I think we’re probably going to win conference.”

That bold expectation isn’t outside the realm of possibility, and the confidence in the young returning quarterback gives Winston Academy belief that there is a special season on the horizon.

“Anytime you can return your starting quarterback, it makes things a lot easier;” Milton said. “He is so far ahead this time last year. He has 12 starts under his belt and that will be a big difference for him.

“We’re trying to play even faster (with Logan). We’ve tweaked how we call plays. We tweaked how we call our system. We really want to play faster towards the end of a quarter and the end of the half and really pick up the pace and put the pedal down.”

Winston Academy will begin the season at Sylva Bay before hosting Lamar on August 30th.
