Hood To Seek 4th Term

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Democrat Jim Hood is seeking a fourth term as Mississippi attorney general.

The state Democratic Party confirms that Hood’s campaign filed papers for him to enter the race Friday, one week before candidates’ qualifying deadline.

The 52-year-old Hood is the first person in the race for attorney general and it’s unclear whether a Republican will run.

He is the only Democrat currently holding a statewide office.

Hood is engaged in a legal fight with Google over whether the Internet search engine improperly helps people find pirated music and prescription drugs without a prescription.

The California-based company says Hood is infringing on its free-speech rights, and it has asked a federal judge to block a subpoena from him and to block him from filing civil or criminal charges.
