Hospital Plans Get Preliminary Approval

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – The Lafayette County Planning Commission has approved the preliminary design for the new $300 million Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

The plans were presented to the commission this week by the hospital’s design team, A2H.

The plans are scheduled to come before the Oxford Planning Commission on June 10

Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi plans to build on the 160-acre site located south of Mississippi Highway 6.

While the new facility will have the same 217 beds the current facility has, at least when it first opens, the hospital’s departments will expand and will be more state-of-the-art. Baptist will build the hospital with the potential to expand to 290 beds in the future.

It hopes to being land leveling and other site preparation as early as September.
