Houston Man To Admit Fraud

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – Federal court records indicate that a man will plead guilty to defrauding the Federal Emergency Management Agency out of disaster money.

The indictment in the case says that James W. Pulliam lied when filed for assistance by claiming a house that was damaged in Houston, Miss., was his primary residence when it was not. Court records say the amount was more than $1,000.

Residents in the area were allowed to seek assistance after a disaster declaration was made in response to an outbreak of tornados that ripped across the South.

He pleaded not guilty in January. Court records show a change of plea hearing is scheduled for Oct. 10 in U.S. District Court in Oxford.
