Houston Police Investigate Fred’s Pharmacy, Save-a-Lot Burglaries

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) — Houston police are trying to track down suspects they believe are responsible for two early-morning burglaries.

Houston Police Chief Billy Voyles said the Fred’s pharmacy and Save-a-Lot grocery store were broken into after midnight Wednesday. Fred’s pharmacy was hit about 12:30 a.m., followed closely by the Save-a-Lot burglary about 1:30 a.m.

Surveillance footage was retrieved from both stores, but a description of the suspects is not being released at this time.

Voyles said multiple individuals burglarized both stores, and believes the same group could be behind each incident.

The suspects in both cases, according to Voyles, pulled back the tin on the rear of both stores and breached the sheetrock to gain entry.

Voyles said it’s unclear what might have been stolen from Fred’s, but said the suspects made off with an undetermined amount of cash from Save-a-Lot.

No suspects have been identified yet, but the investigation into both incidents is ongoing.

Pontotoc City authorities have recently experienced similar burglaries, and are assisting Houston authorities with the investigation due to a possible connection.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is also assisting Houston authorities with the investigation.
