Hundreds Attend Yokohama Training Session

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — Nearly 500 people filled the West Point Civic Center Saturday in hopes for a job with Yokohama Tire.

The tire manufacturing plant hosted a training session to help interested community members to apply for job openings.

The plant currently has one hundred employees but expects to hire four-hundred more.

Yokohama leaders discussed recruitment process for training and requirements as potential employees.

One event goer says in light of the several plant closings in the last decade, Yokohama brings a brighter future.

“Trying to better their family. Better their living because a lot of jobs have left our area the last five years,” says Curtis Clay.

West Point was chosen for the plant location out of one thousand other counties.

The plant is expected to be up and running in October of 2015.
