Hunt for Hunger

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI)-For many hunters the first of October was opening day to hunt deer with a bow. But the first also means another year for the Amory Food Pantry’s Hunt for Hunger program. The program was founded during deer season of 2004 and 2005 by Martha Dalrymple and James Cummins. It gives hunters the opportunity to contribute any unwanted deer meat to the pantry. Last year alone hunters contributed a little over four thousand pounds to the food pantry. Hunters interested in donating can pick up a free processing voucher at Bucci’s Processing, Grey’s Deer Processing, or Mobley’s Processing. Deer must be field dressed or a ten dollar tax deductible donation is required.
